I am moving slowly through a very long warp. So far I have woven a 37 inch table runner using a verigataned blue yarn that I hand spun. There was a lot more warp than I thought so I have now woven some spotlight yarn from my stash that could be runner or a scarf is now 38 inches and there is still more warp to go. I can only 4inch of weaving uing this colour. So I will have to find somethig else to use because I don't want to waste the pearl cotton wa. Next time I will measure better and write it down.

Last Thursday while I was lurking in Pinterest I found a pattern called "Drop in the pond ". I keep calling it duck on the pond but that's Just me. I only used wool that I had in my stash but it looks okay. As you can see Jay likes it!

Interchangeable knitting needle bag
I have spent the last few days trying to make a new bag to hold my interchangeable knitting needles. They came in a folder with plastic envelopes but the sliders brake and I have brought several new envelopes which were supposedly stronger, But they have broken as well. Once the slider brakes they can't be opened without cutting them open. I looked on Pinterest and found several patterns that rolled up. I cut out all the pieces but found another idea so re-cut the bits. I started making this roll up case only to find another idea which was a bag but there was no pattern included :( . So here is my attempted at making a better bag. It seems to hold all my bits and bobs for knitting except the accentual knitting. Wayne pointed out this small over site. Maybe I will make a mark two. ( I also made a little zipped bag for the ends and markers)

A first for me zipper pocket insert , I watched a you tube video and Wa-lah I did it. But you may notice I have put the zip in left handed . Its fine for me as I am left handed . |

Butterfly Stripe Quilt
I finished this large lap quilt finally today. I started it last year and it has been in my sewing room waiting to be quilted for months . The poor thing has been moved around the room so much , on the floor under the cupboard under the table and then back on the sewing table. I had brought the jelly roll from spotlight on a chuck out table and only payed a few dollars for it but when I opened it the 2 1/2 inch strips were very badly cut some looked like boomerangs with bows at the fold. also the colour was quite washed out. I found this you tube video called jelly roll race and decided that I give it a go. It was great fun and very fast . I had a top made in just over and hour. I would have been quicker if I had filled enough bobbins first.

Once the top was made it still looked pail so I added the butterfly silhouettes and a couple of boarders. I still don't like it much . i keep thinking of the saying "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear." I will put it in the caravan or may be use it on the lounge for Nanna naps.

Romney Spinning
Last week I brought some lovely roving's to spin four merino plaits and one Romney ball all are 100 grams and are amazing colours .Over the last few days I have spun the Romney roving which was so easy to spin. Its coarser than the merino that I usually spin but the colour is fantastic. I have plied it with a reel of machine embroidery thread so that I didn't lose any of the colour change. The first photo is how the ball looked on web site and the second and third photo are how mine turned out the hank measures 224 meters.

weaving
This year at the retreat I learnt how to weave on a thing called a weave it . I have found heaps of patterns and how too use the board. There are a several sizes but we were all given the 7inch size which is one of the biggest one. I have made quite a few since arriving back home again. We were all asked to at least six and make something . I still don't know what I will make!!

New books
In the post today I received these three books from my amazing friend in Alabama. It took a few weeks to get here because we had a few holidays for Easter and Anzac Day. I didn't know what she had brought me but knew they would suite me because she knows me so well . Thanks so much Kathy , I want to make something out of them all right now :)

Butterflies Dreaming
my latest Fibrespace work. The inspirational word for this was "Living in the moment". I found it hard to get an idea but once I saw the beaded Butterfly's on Pinterest I had to make one and then I needed three to balance the whole vine. I was going to make a grape vine but could not think of a way to make it displayable so that's when I thought of the dream catcher.
. Just for interest each butterfly took me four days to bead each section then on the 5th day I made the body and put it together. the flowers were a lot quicker only about 6 hours.
The Fibrespace group is working with writers group and we make art work to go with there poem or short story, This time we made the art work first now someone has the write something to go with my art work.
I may make a few more of them but all a bit different

Weaving
I can't believe its the end of January all ready . This year will fly by just like the last one at this rate.
I have warped up my 4 shaft loom for the second attempt at becoming a weaver. For Christmas I asked the boy's for weaving related gifts and was lucky to be able to replace the reed and get some more wire heddle's to make the second hand loom like new. Also I brought some spools of Thread to weave with.
I spent three days threading 265 heddle's and the wove a few inches to find I had made a mistake and the had to work out a way to fix it. Can you see the error
