Knitting

We are going on a fishing trip with Wayne's family in march. I can't get in our boat because of my back so I am taking some craft gear to work on while they are out in the boat all day. I have started the hexagon wallhanging for the exhibition and will have a few beading patterns as well . I have started some knitting last night. I had knitted this wool up but didn't like it so I unravelled the whole thing. This was harder than I thought because I had knitted the cardigan in entrelac   in one piece and it didn't unravel as easy as normal knitting dose. So now its all ready to re knit, I have decided to knit a top down style jacket thing. Last year at a knitting retreat I brought a book called button up your top down and I am now knitting a jacket with a nice collar from this book.
I don't think I have enough yarn with just the pink/ grey yarn so I am going to add the dark grey. I really don't like strips but I don't have a lot of choice. At least but doing this from the top down I can space the strips out evenly over the whole jacket.

Beaded star

Instead of making more triangles I decided to make a star . It was a bit confusing because I had made to many rounds on each piece and then it would not zip up .

Exhibition Quilt

I have worked out what I plan to entering in the port Augusta quilters guild exhibition this year. I am president of the guild and really need to enter something . I have had this book of wall hangings made from hexagons for a while and had not really looked at the size used but decided the one on the front cover was what I wanted to make. There are only just over 700 hexagons and they are appliquéd onto a background fabric. The first problem was the pattern used 1/4 inch hexagons ( too small !) I am using 1/2 inch ones and as you can see next to my thimble they are still small. The size is measured along the strait edges not across the middle. I have cut out all the fabric and tacked a few onto the papers yesterday at craft in Quorn. We are going on a fishing / boating holiday in early march. Wayne needs a break, because I can't get into our boat I will stay at the home we have rented. Wayne's brother's and there wife's and his parents are all coming  to Cowell. I will get a lot of this wall hanging completed while we are away . I was going to take my crocheting but its to bit big already to cart around and I don't want it damaged.

My First Table cloth

This was my first crocheted table cloth. I made it out of D.M.C cebelia crochet cotton #20.
I only used it for Christmas and special  occasions but now we have it on the table quite often. It was this cloth that my aunt saw and asked it I could make one for her table but she needs a bigger one.

Table cloth Again

These photos were taken last week, I have finished 6, 50 gram  D.M.C cotton so far.
The bottom photo is how it fits the table now its so far around, I can't get more than a couple of round ever couple of hours. But as you know I only do my craft work , Wayne looks after everything else. I have a problem with my sciatic nerve this week as well as my normal back problem. My herniated disc's are pressing on the nerve , it will get better I just have to put up with it at the moment. I have found that my crocheting take's my mind off the pain.

Free pattern

I have not tried this pattern. I was playing with Bead tool 4 and this is what I designed
I thought it would make a great bag or used as a panel for a book cover.

Tebby's

Last year I got the inspiration to make some bears I had made some a few years ago but when a girl friend offered me her bear fabric I could not resist cutting it up. All my bear are hand stitched so take a while to make and are not children's toys. The two little ones were given to my cousin for her twin's

Wall hanging

This Japanese wall hanging was what I entered in our last exhibition , two year ago in June
you can't see it on the photo but the background fabric has spirals on it, I beaded each one with size 11 beads . Its fun to see when people realize and then they have to touch it. This photo was taken before the binding was put on. It hangs in the entry was so is the first thing you see when you enter our home.

Table Cloth

Here are the first few round's of the table cloth I am making for an order I am making good progress I know my aunt will love it.

Beading

St Petersburg chain made into a lanyard. This is my second lanyard of this type the other one I sold to a friend, she wears it like a tie and it looks great on her.

Sock's

This pair of sock will eventually get finished. I carry them in my hand bag so while I am waiting at one of my end-lest doctor's visits I can knit instead of read old magazines. Because they live in my bag I don't use my knit pick needles , they are to pointy and go through there zip lock plastic bag.

Knitting Beads again

I posted the above bead knitting a while ago but had trouble with the way I strung on the beads. Okay I made mistakes! I have just spent the last day and night restringing the whole thing again. Wayne thinks I am mad spending all this time on it but I know the end product will be worth it.The Pattern will be sort of circle's.

Hexagon Purse

This free patterns was inspired by my hexagon quilt.

Necklace

This necklace was very hard to photograph because the beads are so shiny. I made this from the the book netting all the way by - Netting All The Way  by Varvara  Barsky. If you can find this book its well worth getting for net type necklaces. the instructions are very easy to understand. My necklace has green and silver 11s and Crystals ( not Swarovski Crystals but cheaper ones )

Quilt

Starry Night Quilt
I stated this quilt last year and then got bored with it and put it in the maybe finish cupboard. Well I needed something to do at quilting that was hand work so I fished it out. I had to even up the sides and now I can work on one edge and make it long enough to us as a bed quilt . I am using the English paper piecing  method. I am now happy with how its turning out. I may put it into the quilt exhibition or guild is having in  June. I am the president of the Port Augusta  guild and I should put at least one quilt in. My quilts are not as good at quilting as some of the ladies are but I try.
